European Gymnastics Championships in Birmingham

1 05 2010

Not had much time to blog recently.I have been covering the European Gymnastic Championships in Birmingham. The event lasts over two weeks and 16 hour days are not uncommon. Two more days left of competition with the Womens Team and Individual Finals to go.The British women qualified for today’s Senior Team final in third position.

Helped by two huge scores on Bars and Floor from Beth Tweddle, Great Britain actually led the field after three rotations ahead of 2008 runners up Russia, who eventually finished in top spot ahead of defending champions Romania. The British team had a few errors on the beam in qualification and there is anticipation that if these can be omitted they could be in with a real chance of a medal.
